Today’s job hunt is defined by friction: endless scrolling across dozens of job boards, copy-pasting the same resume into different ATS systems, manually tracking 80 applications in a spreadsheet, and preparing blindly for interviews with no real signal.
Octo Job Hunter was built to eliminate all of that. We believe finding great work should be a matter of fit and preparation — not luck and volume. Our tools are designed to get signal faster, waste less time, and put candidates in rooms they actually want to be in.

How we got here
From a frustrating job search to a tool used by thousands.
The problem gets personal
Two of our founders go through their own job searches simultaneously. They compare notes: 200+ combined applications, 9 spreadsheets between them, and a response rate under 8%. They start prototyping a better tracker.
The first version ships
A rough but functional desktop app with application tracking and early AI matching. 50 friends and family members use it. The feedback is electric — especially for the resume optimizer, which nobody expected to love that much.
Private beta — 500 users
Word of mouth drives a private beta to 500 active users. Average interview rate for Octo users is 3.2× the national average. We raise a small pre-seed round to go full-time and build the web version.
Web app launches, interview prep added
The web app launches alongside the desktop client. Interview preparation — the most-requested feature from beta — ships with a full mock-interview mode. User count crosses 5,000.
