The Platform
ThanksAlot is a gratitude and social giving platform designed to make saying “thank you” meaningful in a digital world. The concept is simple but powerful: users express gratitude to the people who matter to them, and those expressions of thanks can be tied to real charitable giving. It’s social media with purpose—a platform where positive interactions drive tangible good.
When ThanksAlot approached Dangerous Media, they had a compelling vision but needed a creative partner to bring it to life across every touchpoint—from the brand itself to the app users would hold in their hands.
What We Built
Dangerous Media worked with ThanksAlot from the ground up, shaping how the platform would look, feel, and communicate across every channel. Our scope covered four interconnected areas:
- Branding: We developed ThanksAlot’s complete brand identity—logo, color palette, typography, and visual language—creating a look that feels warm and approachable while still reading as a credible tech platform
- web design: A marketing website that communicates the platform’s mission clearly, drives app downloads, and establishes ThanksAlot as a legitimate player in the social impact space
- App Design: User interface and experience design for the ThanksAlot mobile app, ensuring the gratitude and giving workflows are intuitive, engaging, and aligned with the brand
- Social Media: Launch-phase social media strategy and content to build awareness, attract early adopters, and establish the platform’s voice in the social impact community
The Creative Challenge
ThanksAlot sits at the intersection of social networking and charitable giving—two spaces with very different design expectations. Social platforms need to feel dynamic, fast, and familiar. Charitable giving needs to feel trustworthy, emotional, and grounded. The brand had to thread that needle without leaning too far in either direction.
We built a visual identity that balances warmth with clarity. The color palette and typography signal optimism without feeling naive. The app interface borrows the best interaction patterns from established social platforms while making the giving component feel natural rather than transactional. Every design decision was made to reduce friction between the impulse to say thanks and the act of making a difference.
