The Brief

Author Tal Keinan needed a cover illustration for his book “God is in the Crowd” that could visually communicate a complex set of ideas: the tension between individual identity and collective belonging, the gravitational pull of community, and a subtle nod to Jewish heritage—all within a single, arresting image. He also needed a promotional WordPress website to support the book’s launch and ongoing visibility.

The Illustration

Dangerous Media created the book’s intricate cover illustration using Adobe Photoshop, individually placing each blue speck into its specific location. The challenge was to develop an image that looked like a spiral galaxy—with stars being flung outward into space as the force of centripetal gravity pulls on those same stars—while creating a subtle hint of the Star of David within the formation.

The result is an image that rewards close inspection. From a distance, the viewer sees a cosmic spiral—beautiful and universal. As they look closer, the six-pointed structure emerges, and the metaphor clicks: individuals scattered across a vast space, held together by an invisible force, forming something greater than any single point of light.

  • Pixel-level placement of thousands of individual elements in Adobe Photoshop
  • Visual metaphor balancing cosmic imagery with cultural symbolism
  • Multiple rounds of refinement to achieve the precise balance of chaos and structure
  • Final artwork delivered in multiple formats for print, digital, and promotional use

The Promotional Website

To support the book’s launch, we built a clean, focused promotional WordPress website. The site served as a central hub for press coverage, author information, event listings, and purchase links. The design echoed the book’s visual language—dark backgrounds, points of light, and a sense of depth that carried the illustration’s metaphor into the digital space.
